I am a huge music nut.
When I first began teaching I thought I'd have my students
rockin out with me but I've found in time that as a teacher, and as a student,
the music I choose for a Group class is MUCH different
than what I choose for my home practice.
In my home practice- I am a rockin fool!
I listen to Fugazi, Bad Religion, Sonic Youth & more.
For me, I love the intensity of the music pushing me in the background-
sometimes those extra notes in that song are what I wait
for to stay even longer in a pose.
Sometimes I melt into the music letting it soothe me along
with my breath.
Sometimes I long for silence & keep the stereo off.
Music is purely YOUR preference-
especially if you're at home practicing on your own.
What are your favorite songs?
Are there ones that make you smile or cheer you immediately?
What about the songs that make you strut when you hear them?
Try playing them when you practice.
